Aside: The Robots and Readers Theme

30 September 2009 No Comment

I am using this blog to cut an early draft of a book with the working title, I, Reader. Readers may notice that the ideas are rough around the edges, but blogging them is one way to give them shape. The first few posts have used Asimov’s book, I, Robot, as a launching point for discussions about technology and reading, points to which I will return from other access points later. I see now that these posts form the first theme, to be called Robots and Readers. I have gone back and labeled the last three posts with that theme name, and the next post will be the fourth and final one. I will then move on to a new theme.

I will make occasional process notes asides like this one along the way when an insight about the book’s structure or direction becomes clearer. Later in the series, I intend to talk directly about the subject of blogging a book idea. Writing is an extension of reading; so too is blogging and other forms of web participation.

To facilitate normal reading, I will not include process notes asides in the series index that is provided to navigate the posts.
