LibraryThing Books API is Open Source: Good Move

7 July 2008 No Comment

LibraryThing announced its new books API for creative access to book data. Mostly this will be used by programmers, but there is also a development group where others can request innovations. I notice that the book covers in the samples link to LibraryThing, not Amazon, good. LibraryThing runs on closed source code, but the API code is open source, and I applaud that move. I won’t be able to play with this for awhile, but I will be following the developments with interest. (I can’t help but wonder if OpenBook didn’t spark something there?)
